Soundhous Experience ("Soundhous," "we," "us") is a lifestyle orchestration platform for home sound systems. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.
Legal entity details and contact information are displayed at the top of this document and are subject to final confirmation before publication.
This Privacy Policy covers the Soundhous Experience web and mobile applications and the data processed through them. It does not cover third-party services like Sonos, which have their own privacy policies.
We collect personal data necessary to operate the Service, including account information, home configuration, family profiles, audio content, activity data, and payment information.
We follow the principles of lawfulness, fairness, transparency, purpose limitation, data minimisation, accuracy, storage limitation, security, and accountability.
We collect your name, email address, phone number, country, and WhatsApp number (where applicable) to create and manage your account and to communicate with you.
We collect information about your home, including its name, location, timezone, and connected speakers. This is used to configure and operate your Soundhous experience.
You may create Family Profiles for household members. Soundhous requests only information reasonably needed for household features, such as name, relationship, birthday, and celebration preferences.
The home owner or account owner must have a lawful basis or appropriate authority to add information about other household members. Soundhous does not encourage storage of unnecessary sensitive information.
Creating a Family Member profile does not automatically create a user account for that person.
When you connect Sonos, Soundhous may process information required to operate the experience, such as: Sonos household identifier, players/speakers, room/group names, connection status, and operational Favorite identifiers you select.
Soundhous does not claim ownership of Sonos data. Soundhous does not receive your Sonos password. OAuth tokens are stored securely and are not exposed.
We store your Ritual, Moment, Announcement, and spiritual configuration to schedule and trigger playback. This includes timing, volume, target rooms, and selected sound sources.
We process audio content you provide, including recorded voice messages, uploaded audio files, generated text-to-speech audio, and Moment audio.
Purpose: to play your configured experiences on your speakers.
Access: only you and authorised household members can access your audio content.
Retention: audio is retained while your account is active and is deleted or anonymised when no longer required, subject to lawful retention obligations.
Deletion: you can delete your audio content at any time. Deleted content is removed from active use, though backups may persist for a limited period.
We log activity events such as sign-ins, playback events, and configuration changes for security, troubleshooting, and service improvement. We do not permanently retain all playback history.
We collect device information such as browser, operating system, and approximate location for security purposes, including detecting new device sign-ins and unauthorised access.
We do not store raw IP addresses unless there is an established lawful or security requirement.
We process payment and subscription information through supported payment providers. We store transaction records and licensing information but do not store full payment card details.
We may send you service notifications, security alerts, and optional marketing communications. Marketing communications require your consent and can be withdrawn at any time.
We may use your configuration and activity data to recommend speakers, upgrades, and features. Recommendations are generated using automated processing with human oversight for significant suggestions.
We process your personal data to: provide and operate the Service, process payments, communicate with you, ensure security, comply with legal obligations, and improve the Service.
We rely on the following lawful bases for processing: performance of a contract (providing the Service), consent (marketing and optional features), legitimate interests (security and service improvement), and legal obligation (retention and compliance).
Marketing communications are optional. You can opt in or out at any time. Your marketing preference does not affect your account or service eligibility.
Marketing consent is separate from your acceptance of the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
We use third-party service providers for payment processing, cloud infrastructure, AI/audio generation, communications, and inventory management. These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements.
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. We take appropriate measures to ensure your data is protected in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter, subject to legal, financial, fraud, security, warranty, transaction, and audit retention obligations.
When data is no longer required, it is deleted or anonymised, subject to lawful retention obligations.
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing or withdraw consent.
These rights are subject to lawful limitations and retention obligations.
You can submit privacy requests through the Settings page. We will respond within a reasonable time and may verify your identity before processing your request.
We do not promise instant deletion of every record if legal, financial, fraud, security, warranty, transaction, or audit retention obligations require preservation.
You can withdraw your marketing consent at any time through Settings. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
Some recommendations are generated automatically based on your configuration. Significant recommendations, such as those involving personal data about other household members, are subject to human review.
Soundhous is not directed at children under 18. Family Profiles for minors are managed by the account owner and are subject to child-safe permission defaults.
We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Family Profile information about minors is provided by the account owner.
When you connect Sonos or other third-party services, those services process data under their own privacy policies. Soundhous is not responsible for third-party privacy practices.
We use essential technical storage (local storage, session tokens) to operate the Service. We do not use advertising cookies. Authentication tokens are necessary for the Service to function.
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us using the privacy email listed on this page. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated with reasonable notice. Acknowledgement may be required for significant changes.
